"Pushing Limits"
19cm wide X 24cm height
Martin and I had, had a lovely weeks holiday in Ballater and as he drove home I stayed. I was going to try to do Ben Avon and Beinn a'Bhuird. I was concerned about the length of the day, just over 20miles and around 1450m of ascent but with an incoming thunderstorm forecast. The low clouds rose as I approached them and by the time I was on Ben Avon the sun was coming out, but by Beinn a'Bhuird, whilst I was still in the sunshine, storm clouds were beginning to pile up in the distance. I got back to the car just as the first rain fell in slightly over 9 hours.

"We have come so far"
98cm wide X 56cm height
Several series of early humans footprints have been found, particularly in Africa, where the fossilized prints walk over rock that has then been hardened and preserved. Some of these are thought to have been made up to 3.7million years ago. We have come so far.
Purchased cotton, quilted in greys and yellows with hand stitching in red, stenciled footprints in markel sticks.

Heritage bag.
Following a lovely walk along the Heritage Coast path in Glamorgan I wanted to make a reminder of the day. My choice was endless as there was so much to see, (a much less well known Heritage Coast path than the one in Dorset but spectacular). Eventually I designed a bag based on the breccias and conglomerates at the beginning of the walk.
Dupion silk with silk wadding, quilted in metallic threads, painted bondawebbed applique shapes.

"Ben Lawers"
29cm wide X 21cm height
We had had a miserable week of weather in early February, then on the last day the weather improved dramatically and we were all up and out early. I set off for Ben Lawers and was the first on the mountain in pristine snow with only animal and bird tracks marking it. My route became the one others followed that day!
