"Bright Mountain"
30cm wide X 21cm height
Inspired by the beautiful poem"The Wilderness" by Kathleen Raine and a fabulous day in the hills.
"Yet I have glimpsed the bright mountain behind the bright mountain
.......................................
Drunk water cold and clear from an inexhaustible hidden fountain"
I had, had a full on winter day in the Fannaichs in spite of the fact it was May. For most of the morning I was in white out and near white conditions, on compass all the time. As I came down into the glen from the third Munro before starting up the 4th of the day the sky cleared fairly quickly as indicated by the photo above. Suddenly I could see An Teallach and all of Fisherfield in front of me, water started to pour off the mountain all around, suddenly thawing in the increased warmth.
Stencil, markel stick and hand sewing on white cotton.
